We are very pleased to announce that we are now proud members of the British Game Alliance. What does this mean to you, our customer?
Who is the British Game Alliance?
The BGA is a non-profit organisation who work to promote UK game to the public.
Their assurance scheme means that organisations who carry the recognisable mark have ‘demonstrated high standards through best practice in all areas, from animal welfare to game handling’. This mark ensures that consumers are able to buy game with a confidence in its provenance.
They also aim to change consumers’ perception of game meat and show that game is a great alternative, to say chicken or beef, and can be cooked in exciting, innovative ways.
Why choose game meat as an alternative?
Game is a healthy, ethical and environmentally friendly food. Game meat is lower in fat in comparison to farmed meat, as game animals are free to roam the countryside. Even if the chicken you buy says ‘free-range’ it’s not going to have the same environment as wild game. You also don’t need to worry about any nasty antibiotics or hormones with game meat. As well as being lower in fat game meat contains Omega-3 fatty acids, which you would perhaps generally associate with fish. Omega-3 fatty acids are associated with a whole host of health benefits including promoting a healthy heart.
Our range of game-based products is continuously expanding and now includes pies, pasties, sausage rolls, sausages, ready meals as well as ready-to-cook whole birds and breast meat. Browse the online shop today.
